I’m writing this while indulging in a delicious churro with chocolate! The line at the entrance was long, but service was quick. I ordered my hot chocolate with four “porras” and, in less than five minutes, I was seated at a table enjoying this treat.

This is one of the most famous chocolaterías in Madrid and, in my opinion, the very best. The churros are simply wonderful, and the atmosphere is cozy, filled with locals and visitors from all over the world. The walls, decorated with photos of celebrities who have passed through, are part of the history of a place that has been around for more than a century. Among its illustrious visitors are Javier Bardem, Paloma Picasso, daughter of the renowned painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso, and many others.

Founded in 1894, this chocolatería is a true icon of Madrid, offering locals and tourists the traditional churro with chocolate, as well as soft drinks, coffee, and pastries. Located in the same building since its opening, it has preserved its original charm with wooden benches, marble bar tops and tables, and the historic photos that decorate the space.

The hot chocolate here is not just a regular drink. It is thick and perfect for dipping churros. It is impossible not to get a little messy! I love this moment, and while savoring it, I find myself watching the people around me and their reactions. For me, that is the real experience: sparking smiles and making everyone feel comfortable enough to enjoy the moment too.

The place also offers an excellent quality-to-price ratio. A portion of churros with hot chocolate costs between 5 and 6 euros, making this delicious experience even more accessible.

After finishing my churros, I stayed at the table for a while, simply taking in the atmosphere that transports you back in time with its vintage and cozy charm.

Located in the heart of Madrid, between Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor, the chocolatería is within easy reach of the city’s main attractions. It is a must-visit for anyone in the Spanish capital. I highly recommend it!
